The Frngidsnt's House is a...bout a mile and a half from the C-pitolj la a direction west by north. It stands between loth aid 171h ets. n. w., ou a high plateau, where Pennsylvania and K w York avenues intersect, and fronting it is Lafayette Square.
It is built of a yellowish freestone painted white, and is popu- larly known as The White House.
It is two stories high, 170 feet long, and 86 feet wide, with a portico on the north, supported by eight pillars, under which carriages can drive. The south front has a semicircular colour nade of six columns in the centre.
