At a subsequent conference in Dr. Butler's office, at which the four gentlemen were all present, Dr. Butler advised that the proposal under discussion should be embodied in a letter, addressed to himself and signed by a few friends of the peace movement who were known to have Mr. Carnegie's confidence. Dr. Butler offered to take this letter to Mr. Carnegie and to support it with his own personal plea for the plan proposed.
