Straightforward enough it is, and less freaked (sic) by uglinesses than is usual with him ; but in tbree of the four movements the ideas are worn and stale, not to say frivolous. . . .

The reader who has felt the charm of the cross-rhythm in the finale of this work will be surprised to hear, from another critic, of " the rondo (sic) to his piano Concerto, where the monotonous limping of the second subject, in place of piquing the ear, harasses it by producing an effect of lameness which retards the animation of the movement."
