Saw raised the third meeting-house, the present edifice, a large stone building, sixty-four by ninety-four feet. " The building referred to as having been erected in 1800 is that shown in the accompanying sketch, taken from an old print in Valentine' s Manual, the only source now available for a view of the old church. It was here that John Williams labored ; and in his ministry in the city he came into contact with many other representatives of various Christian denomina- tions, in whose work he took an interest second only to that he felt for the work among his own people.
