As the teacher's vocation rises in the public estima- tion to the rank and dignity of a profession, the inquiry is naturally awakened, should there not be institutions for the sole and exclusive purpose of furnishing the appropriate instruction! The necessity and propriety of such provision are so obvious that it must be admitted as a fundamental principle in every educational system. The wisdom and economy of this system admit of no question.
