(18) The reader should realize that in this latter form (half truth and innuendo) it is extremely difficult to expose the falsehood and to combat its influence ; and that, therefore, he should be constantly on his guard, lest he be duped by it. (19) When we take up the Inflammator...y type of Socialist propaganda, we should remember that the only logical test of whether a political group is Socialist, is the nature of its ultimate aims, not the means which it advocates for their accomplishment. (20) When sub- jected to this test, the fundamental aims of so-called Socialists, Communists, Communist-Laborites, I. W. W. 's, as well as the Left, Centre and Right of the vari- ous Socialist groups in Europe, appear to be essentially the same. (21) These common ends, constituting as they do the greatest common divisor of the various Schools, indicate the true essence of Socialism, and ac- ceptance of them is the acid test of whether any group or faction is Socialist.
