There were two Democratic and one Whig candidates The Democratic candidates received 39, 159 votes; the Whig candidate did not receive one-third ot the votes, as he got only 18, 4S4. The vote on amend- ments to the constitution was small, as will be seen by returns copied from the New Hampshire Patriot, a Democratic paper.
