Secession, like any other revolutionary act, may be morallyjustiiied by the extremity of oppression ; but to call it a constitutionaj right is confounding the meaning of terms. " Sir, there is not an American citizen who could endure the insults and atrocities which have been heaped upon his country by the seceding States if they had proceeded from a foreign Power.
