...es the Claiborne sand bed is exposed, while the white limestone caps the hills above. The sand in these places is quite blue and the fossils are very abundant and well preserved.
The limestone near the top of the bluff at Claiborne is undoubtedly the continuation of the white limestone of St. Stephens and Clarke county ; though just at this point its mineral characters are not so well marked. This limestone is seen thinning out near the top of the bluff at Bell's Landing, a few miles above Claiborne.
