TELEPHONE TRANSMITTERS 85 slant spreads out from the pole-pieces in various directions, so that hardly any two turns in the coil i
...nclose the same num- ber of lines of flux, the outside turns near the permanent magnet inclosing the most, the inside turns near the dia- phragm inclosing the least amount of flux. As the diaphragm bends to and fro, the distance between the diaphragm and the pole-pieces of the magnet varies, thus changing the mag- netic reluctance and modifying l the distribution and, to a somewhat smaller extent, the quantity of magnetic flux be- tween the magnet pole-pieces and the diaphragm. As the diaphragm vibrates, the greater rate of change of inclosed flux will be in the inside turns closest to the diaphragm.
