But place in the hands of a youthful student, who can see nothing but barrenness in scientific pursuits, who manifests not (as in the other case supposed) an indifference merely, but a positive aversion to study — place in the hands of such an one, the memoirs of Milton, or Parr, or Jones, or White, the self devoted martyr of science ; however listless he may be, the nature of the VOL.
