COPYRIGHTS 255 COPYRIGHTS Definition Bouvier's Law Dictionary defines copyrights as "the ex- clusive privilege, secured according to certain legal forms, of printing, or otherwise multiplying, publishing, and vend- ing, copies of certain literary or artistic productions. The term can be extended for twenty-eight years, upon request by the author, his widow, or his children, within one year after the termination of the original grant. Copyrights are personal property ; as such, they may be willed ; in the absence of a will, they descend to the natural heirs.
