They carried on this day crowns of myrtle and chrysanthemums, and celebrated the ceremony of sprinkling with water. For this reason the day has been called Nurooz. The kings of the line of Chosroes celebrated this festival in felicitations to one another, and in sending presents consisting of myrtle, chrysanthemums, and olive branches; they re- garded this day as fruitful in great blessings.
