exp. Physiol. 3, p. 315, 1910) found that it caused dilatation of the vessels of the brain.
Amsler and Pick did not find that it had any effect on the perfused vessels of the frog (A. ges. Physiol. 85, p. 61, 1919).
Dixon (Manual Pharmacol., 4th edit., p. 86, 1919) states that it stimulates the end apparatus of the accelerator nerve.
There are other instances of a difference of effect in pilo- carpine and parasympathetic nerve stimulation.
Paralysis of sympathetic fibres by atropine. Langley, S...ubmaxillary gland of the cat (J. Physiol, i, p. 97, 1878; Strieker and Spina, Skin of glands of the frog (Med. Jahrb., P- 355. 1880) ; Mislavski and Borman, Prostate gland (Centrlb. Physiol. 12, p. 181, 1898).
Reversal of effect of sympathetic and parasympathetic drugs.
In the preceding account I have mentioned some cases in which a very small amount of adrenahne produces effects different from those caused by larger amounts and effects which have not been produced, or only doubtfully, by nerve stimulation.
