The French and the English poems show little similarity in metrical struc- ture. The former has three eight-line stanzas, riming a b a b b c b c, and a six-line envoy riming b b c b c b; the latter, as we have noticed, three seven-line stanzas (aba b b c c), and a five-line envoy (a a b b a).
