The White-breasted Nuthatch is a not uncommon resident in the northern portion of our area. It is, however, more abundant during its migrations. The majority of these Nuthatches arrive, in the spring, early in April, and depart, in the fall, during the month of October.
The range of this species covers the United States, east of the Rocky Mountains, and from the British Possessions (New Brunswick and Ontario) southward to the
...Gulf States and Texas. It is a resident species nearly throughout its range.

At the present time we only know this Nuthatch as a common migrant, arriving in the spring, from early in April to the mid- dle of May, and returning, in the fall, from the latter part of August to early in September; it may remain in our vicinity until the latter part of October.
