Pew of the well-to-do Haitiens, or foreign mer- chants, of Port-au-Prince dwell in the town, but, instead, make their homes at La Coupe, a beauti- fully situated suburb about five miles from the city and at an elevation of 1200 feet above the sea, and which is well kept, attractive, and with many really fine residences.
