..., among them; I determined to shut my doors, which I did ; they soon came, two of them first lifted the latch, demanded admission with horrid impreca- tions ; they forced ©pen the door by violence and entered tu- multously huzzaing ; I sent a person immediately to the elder Mr. Wilkins, I sent for Mr. Baldwin the lawyer ; they both came ; the former would not interfere ; the latter warned those ruffians not to- touch any thing — they refilled that they had the orders of Mr. Ross I I had retired up stairs to my own room ; there was a washing going on, and the people about me fled affrighted, as I was myself, though un- shaken in my purpose to maintain my right.
