... and cabbage plants looked healthy and were standing well. Vege- tables improved owing to the plentiful supply of moisture. In Western Maryland the peach yield was reported short, excellent in Delaware, and fair elsewhere. Apples were a good crop in Cecil county.

Wheat harvest was about over, except in extreme western sec- tions, and threshing was in progress. Com was doing well gener- ally. Tobacco showed a rapid growth, but needed dry, cool weather.
Oats were ripening, with prospects of a heavy yield.
