Born in New- ton, Mass., 2 Nov., 1803. Married 25 Apr., 1827, William Flagg Ward, son of William and Mary (Bennett) Ward of Newton, and grandson of John and Abigail (Craft) Ward (No. 88). He was born in Newton 13 Nov., 1801. He was in early life a school teacher. He afterward entered into mercantile life, and was for many years associated as partner with his brother-in- law, Henry Crafts, in the coal, lime and cement trade in Bos- ton. They were the owners of the extensive wharves known as Craf...ts wharves, and built up a large and profitable business, now carried on under the style of Henry Crafts' Sons. He amassed a considerable property, and died in West Newton, Mass., 21 Feb., 1867, m. 65. His wife died there 10 Feb., 1866, M. 63.
They had two children, as follows : I. Joseph Jackson Ward, b. 4 Mch., 1828, m. 8 June, 1854, Mary C.
Howe, dau. of Cranston Howe of Brooklyn, N. Y., formerly of South Boston, Mass. No ch. He d. 22 Apr., 1856. His widow resides in Brooklyn (1890).
