He knows that there is much, the reality of which ...he does not doubt, 40 THE DAWN OF RELIGION which is yet invisible — the heat of the fire ; the strength of the wind ; the love in his heart for us and in our hearts for him — only he is not called upon to speak to these unseen things. It is to us, the seen, he speaks ; not to the unseen love within us. And now that we have suggested that he should speak to this unseen God, he begins to wonder, and to ask why His face should be liidden from him.
Can we, by an appeal to the child's imagination, bring home to him the thought that it is possible for him to hold communion with an invisible spirit world ?
