The last relates to persons belong- ing to very large families containing thirteen or more children; and the intermediate diagrams to persons belonging to families of interme...diate size.
In each diagram the first dot expresses the percentage of persons who died young, under twenty ; the last dot the percentage of persons who lived to be eighty years of age or older; and the intermediate dots the percentage of persons who died at the inter- mediate age-periods named in Table 23.
Both in the case of very small families (containing only one or two children) and in the case of very large families (containing thirteen or more children), the proportion of persons who died young was very large and the proportion who lived to be old small.
