Female work has not been introduced to such an extent in this trade as is usually supposed, and is confined mostly to less important subsidiary work. Rep. V. App. A. 7. Night-work is general in Newspaper Printing Offices, and in establishments doing work for lawyers, rail- ways, &c. , on account of the pressing necessity of speedy delivery, and the great printers raised very great objections against the introduction of the Factory Act into their trade.
