There we found Mr. Cameron," who had s...ailed from the prairie [Prairie du Chien] on the 5th ; he had three bark canoes and a wooden one with him. He had been lying here two days, his canoes unloaded and turned up for the habitation of his men, his tents pitched, and himself living in all the ease of an Indian trader. He appeared to be a man of tolerable information, but rather indolent in his habits ; a Scotchman by birth, but an Englishman by prej - udice. He had with him a very handsome young man, by the name of John Rudsdell, and also his own son, a lad of fifteen.
