Sir William Stewart of Garlics % for ex- ample, in a charter, dated January 13. 1458, is de- figned* " Sir William Stewart of Minto /' while, in the very next charter in the public records, he is defcribed as " Sir William Stewart of Dalfwin- " ton" (y).
