In a proclamation to the army in 1915, the Kaiser said : "The triumph of the Greater Germany, which some day must dominate all Europe is the single end for which we are fighting." At the Potsdam conference held in July, 1914, at which the final touches were put upon the plans for the great war, the Kaiser said: "From childhood I have been under the influence of five men — Alexander, Julius Caesar, Theodoric II, Frederick the Great, and Napoleon.
