Of this period also, though showing evidence of being grafted upon a more ancient oracle. Is the " vision of Obadlah. " It is directed especially against the kindred nation of Edom, for which Israel cherished such bitter re- sentment for being less than kind In the early struggles; but the punishment of Edom Is dwelt upon in view of the day of the Lord that was " near upon all the nations, " when all should be judged and the kingdom should be the Lord's.
