The forward zone was almost every- where lost except in the Flesquieres salient opposite Cambrai. At one P. M. The weather cleared and the German aeroplanes cooperated in the attack. By night the British forward zone was reduced to the section within the area of the Ninth Divi- sion on the left wing of the Fifth Army.
