As soon as it reached Tiflis it was evident that it would be brought here by the people of this part of the country who come and go in such large numbers, unless measures were secured to stop it. Of the Moslems, especially the upper classes, and of the Nestorians and Armenians, the more enlightened, including our preachers and teachers, armed themselves with the pamphlets and medicines, and began using boiled water and refraining from vegetables and fruit, except from their own gardens, and in not a few instances, the sanitary con- dition of the house or village was much improved.
