Young shoots are now springing up, and in... about three years there will be an abundant supply. Once before, about 90 years ago, it bore fruit; and there was then also a great scarcity. It now sells at 16 to 20 Rupees a thousand ; but before the bamboos bore fruit and died out, it sold at 5 Rupees a thousand. This bamboo is particularly used for walls of houses, thatching, and fancy basket-work of every description.
