, Ernest Simons RNEST SIMONS was born in Whiptoff, Leices- tershire, England, October llth, 1847, son of James and Jane Anne Loveitt Simons. He was educated in his native town and in 1 858 came to this country with his parents and settled at Mamar- oneck, New York, and later he became associated with Josiah Wilcox in the manufacture of tinners' tools and hardware at Rivers ville, Conn.

...to partnership with N. C. Pond, under the name of N. C. Pond & Company to manufacture shirts, doing business in an old shovel factory at Port Chester, N. Y. The firm had a two wheel hand truck with which they personally did their own carting of goods to and from the station. On January 1 st, 1 879, the partnership was joined, consisting of Messrs. N. C. Pond, Marshall O. West and Ernest Simons, erecting a two story frame building; on account of the increase of business, a third story was soon added.
