Th...e Jlate-houfe^ where the General Affembly^ and Supreme Court, of the nrovince, are held, is a plain, but elegant and fpacious edifice, for the time in which it was built, about the year 1732 : it (lands on the fouth fide of Chefnut-jtrect ; and with its wings and ap- pendages, on each fide of it, occupies the whole extent of a fquare of near four hundred feet, be- tween Fifth and Sixth-ftreets from Delaware. The prifon and work houfe, at the corner of High-ftreei and Third-ftreet, are ftrong and fpacious buildings, but have nothing very remarkable in their archi- tecture.
