Having an ambition in youth to possess a library, he at the age of twelve years commenced its collection, and has been successful in the highest degree, until now he has hun- dreds of volumes, some of which are rare and costly, having refused one hundred dollars for a German Bible, and also a fabulous price for an ancient Jewish history.
