I have not tried to count the long lists from Xew York. Ohio. Indiana. Illinois. Michigan and Wiscon- sin. The Convention was felt to be of vast economic interest, and was by no means lacking in political importance. Theoretically it was assembled for the consideration of internal improvements; but in addition to this it was convened for the sake of opposing James K.
