The department of Cuba comprises the district of that name, and those of Baracoa, Holguin, and Bayamo. The boundaries of these two departments are not the^ same with those of the ecclesiastical divisions; as, for instance, the district of Puerto Principe, with seven parishes, was subject, in 1814, to the governor of Havana, and to the bishop of St, Jago de Cuba.
