Openings were gladly made for me at Sunday morning, Sun- day evening and mid-week services of the Roches- ter churches in a way to very fully consume my time while there. The newspapers were generous in their attitude, a strong and wide-spread senti- ment was soon awakened, and I left Rochester against the protests of several persons of both races who desired to see such a reform as I advo- cated firmly estabHshed in that city.
