For in both the candidate for admission takes the ritual name of Peter. In the Cathar form the rationale of this ritual appellation seems to have been lost; for it runs thus (p. 163) : ' And if the believer hath the name Peter, the elder shall say as follows : " Peter, " ' &c. This is in the preliminary rite of the reception from the Church of the Lord's Prayer and the book ; but in the rite of Consolamentwn he is again similarly addressed.
