What reading level is The Life And Public Services of John Sherman book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

Chairman, occupying the position which I do, as a member of the Republican party, I might fairly say to gentlemen on the other side : pile on the appropriations as much as you choose ; you have the responsibility of the government ; but I deem it my duty, as a member of this House, to endeavor to check, if I can, the growing extravagance of this adminis- tration, or of this Government I do not care which. I therefore make this proposition on my own account, and will simply say that I submit it ...in good faith. If gentlemen on the other side of the House choose to vote it down, well and good ; they have the responsibility. I have performed my duty, and I do not care what they do. " At the close of his second Congressional term, Mr. Sherman was recognized as the foremost man in the House of Representatives. As a debater he had shown himself to be ready and effective ; he had not attempted oratorical dis- plays ; his efforts were not characterized by the rich imagery of fancy, or the dazzling corruscations of genius ; but he was always practical, thoroughly informed, judicious and forcible in his arguments.
