1V/TR. BRAINERD was this year elected Mode- - L " J - rator of the ...Synod of New York and Phila- delphia, at its annual meeting in Philadelphia, May 19. For the first time he is entered as a member of the Philadelphia Presbytery, instead of New York. Why his relation was changed he does not tell us ; but probably the accession of new elements had made the Presbytery of Philadelphia more accordant to his taste. Fifty-nine members were present in the Synod, and fifty-three absent. Mr. George Duffield was made clerk. After one hundred years a Duffield and Brainerd have been often associated in Philadelphia ecclesiastical bo- dies in a friendship as cordial as that cherished by their namesakes of old.
