He was early instructed in the principles of religion ; nor did he want .very near him some eminent examples for the practice of it, which had a good effect upon him, and appeared in his dutifulness to his parents, his con- stant attendance on the public worship of God, his zeal for the settlement of a gospel minister, and his ambition for his honorable support.
