His real mind was in this sentence : ' I believe that the future of the inhabitants of what remains of the dominions of Turkey will ultimately be determined by internal and natural causes rather than by causes which are external and artificial, and I rejoice that a temporary solution has been arrived at which will leave scope for those natural causes to work, and will not replace the military domination of Turkey by the military domination of Russia or the Slav over unwilling races.
