The Little King walked about for a few minutes in open-eyed wonder, drinking in the fairy-like beauties of the place. It seemed to be a corner of Paradise. The King looked about him, walked through two or three of the narrow paths, went back to Sweeet Mam'selle and said with emphasis: i66 THE LITTLE KING "We'll stay here; we'll not go to the Bois de Vincennes. " "But the carriage will be waiting at the gates, and the Swiss Guardsmen will be there, " sug- gested Sweet Mam'selle.
