Amaziah Beeson, in 1830, operated a copper distillery two miles east of Fairmount. He also built the first brick house ever erected in Fairmount Townshij:). Daniel Thomas built the second one.
This house is now occupied by William A. Beasley and family.
Beeson distilled sassafras, horehound, peppermint, golden rod and pennyroyal, the extract being used for medicines. Dennis ]\Iont- gomery was employed as Beeson's assistant.
