Some 20, 000 rupees, in round numbers about 1, 250, are added to the State coffers of Cashmere through the sale of shooting licences at 60 rupees apiece. About two hundred Europeans are re- sponsible for this sum, and thereby add considerably to the otherwise rather scarce means of increasing the revenues of the country.
In this way, too, about three thousand coolies earn food and wages for six months of the year, and a few pence to carry them through the rest of the time.
