From the edge of this rock and along its summit a large plain extends, cultivated in wheat and barley, and dotted with haciendas. On the plain and near the precipitous wall, we could see the spires and white buildings of a good-sized town. A river which flowed along the plain at the summit, passed near the town, and then fell dashing and sparkling over the sheer precipice into the deep green valley beneath. The whole was seen distinctly, and yot sufficiently distant to be taken in by the 220 AD...VENTURES OF A SOLDIER IN MEXICO.
