What reading level is The Mirror of the Century book?

' But I am obliged to you at any rate/ said he, 'for your polite- ness/ ' Not at all/ replied this engaging young Barnacle. 'Try the thing, and see how you like it. It will be in your power to give it up at any time, if you don't like it. You had better take a lot of forms away with you. Give him a lot of forms ! ' " Little Dorrit has contributed less to the language than most of Dickens' novels. The u Circumlocution Office " stands ; and many people still quote " There's milestones on the Dove...r Road, " that very funny ejaculation of " Mr. F. 's Aunt " ; but the rest of the book is probably forgotten.
As a rule the dialogue in Dickens' novels is not very remarkable. There is one exception, constantly overlooked, in Barnaby Rudge. This novel, if re- membered at all, is perhaps remembered as the book in which the Lord George Gordon riots are introduced. This part of the work is well done : as well depicted with pen and ink as Loutherbourg might have de- picted it on canvas. Dolly Varden has vitality ; and numerous agreeable fashions have been named after her.
