What reading level is The Nemesis of Docility : a Study of German Character book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

The instinctive desire to find a vent for outraged feelings will be too strong for the latter. The sentry who was publicly slashed across the face " stood rigidly at attention and never quivered"; but the fierce resentment which must have surged up in him was doubtless waiting for an outlet ; and one could scarcely expect the victim of such an outrage to be a model of chivalry and courtesy in his dealings with helpless citizens. That particular outrage was witnessed by Mr. Alexander Powell, the... American newspaper correspondent ; and when his narrative of it reached this country, a journalist who had hitherto received with incredulity the stories of German atrocities in Belgium ceased to be incredulous, for he realized that the army in which such an incident was possible was capable of almost any crime.
The discipline that tends to deaden the moral sensibility of the soldier tends also to weaken his will. As he looks to authority instead of to his conscience for his ultimate standard of right and wrong, so he looks to authority instead of to his own will for the driving power, the moral force, which will enable him to do right and resist the temptation to do wrong.
