On 31 THE NEW (GERMAN) TESTAMENT the contrary, it overrules them all. Salus populi, suprema lex. No doubt. But the sal- vation of the German people seems quite in- compatible with the permanent or secure salva- tion of anybody else!
Well, you may call this new German ideal what you please. You may call it grandiose and dazzling. You may call it immoral and unscrupulous. If you are at all acquainted with " cultures," ancient and modern, which are not conceived on the lines of this new German "culture," you may call it impu- dent and absurd.
