In building these houses it is a good plan to make the floors double with paper between. Then block the houses up high enough to admit cats and dogs to clean out the rats when they become trouble- some. The size of these houses is eight feet by twelve, seven feet high in front and five feet high... in the rear. They may be blocked up on stone or short posts set in the ground three on a side, and one in the middle. Such houses will accommodate about twenty layers or forty brooder chicks. There is a great advantage in hav- ing the yards between the houses as it leaves the front onen so the attendant has easy access to any house without going through other houses or yards.
Double Brooder and Chicken House.
Plan A 202 shows an economical brooder house. The house accommodates 130 or 140 chicks, taking them from the incubator of the house.
