Time has cured much of this trouble; time will cure it all; but it will take more than time to cure another trouble that has followed in the wake of the war. With the ending of the war and the freeing of the slaves it was a natural conclusion to those of optimistic mind that the long disturbing negro problem was effectually shelved, and the great source of hostile feeling between the North and South finally removed.
